Below the Rim Meadery is a completely family run business operating at our property just outside of Payson below the gorgeous Mogollon Rim in Nothern Arizona. The family lives and works in Phoenix, AZ, but spends most weekends and much of the summer at our historical 1930’s cabin creating all your favorite flavors of delicious mead. Robert Mitchell
OWNER/MEADMAKER
Rob was a mechanical engineer by trade who specialized in aircraft engines for large companies like GE and Honeywell. He has many of patents in his name and has worked on projects that made it to the Paris Air Show. Rob is also a licensed general contractor and owned a successful commercial construction company called Lone R Builders LLC in the early 2000’s.
About 6 years ago Rob’s diagnosis with Celiac disease spurred him to make his own mead after he could no longer enjoy most of his favorite adult beverages that contained gluten. Rob has been married to Angela for over 40 years and they have two daughters together. He is known by his family as the smartest man they know, who can fix anything everything they always seem to break. Rob can’t every seem to sit still, and can usually be found fixing up an old vehicle or other piece of machinery he bought at auction for a steal.

Angela Mitchell
OWNER/SALES/EVERYONE’S MOM
Angela is a retired public school science teacher who served her community for over 25 years. She began her career at the high school level in both AZ and MA, and then pursued a small business selling science kits geared for elementary children in the 90’s during her time as a stay at home mom. She returned to public school as a middle school teacher in the early 2000’s and is a strong advocate for children, encouraging them to find their “lightbulb moment.” She won Arizona Science Teacher’s Middle School Science Teacher of the year in 2017.
Fondly known as Momma Mitchell by those who love her, Angela is also an avid baker, crafter, and mother to everyone she meets. She is proud of both her daughters, but was especially pleased when her youngest daughter Allie showed a strong interest in science that lead to her career as a marine fisheries biologist for the State of CA.

Sam Camacho (Mitchell)
OWNER/MEDIA MANAGER
Sam is Rob and Angela’s oldest daughter and a musician by trade. She recently “retired” from teaching public school orchestra and general music after 10 years in the field. She now teaches private violin, viola, and cello lessons from her own studio called Camacho Strings. She also writes and performs with two local rock bands (Damn the Weather & Let Alone) and is a member of the Women’s Orchestra of Arizona. Sam also runs a small craft business called La Gringa Camacho’s Weird Wares and works part time for eLRn instructional & Curriculum Design, where she assists in creating online courses and trainings for a variety of businesses.
Sam has been happily married to her husband Tony for over 7 years now after they had a beautiful ceremony at the family property that has since become the BTRM tasing patio. They both enjoy going to rock concerts together and spending time with their three rescue pitties.
